Great Wolf Lodge family massacre blew up during ‘uncommon’ three-week stay at pricey resort, officials say

Disturbing details paint a graphic picture of how a loving father and his 3-year-old son were stabbed to death inside a popular family resort during the family's multi-week extended stay.

Investigators say Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, used "butcher knives" when she allegedly stabbed her husband, Charles "Chaz" Harrison, 36, and the couple's 3-year-old son.

It happened at the Great Wolf Lodge in Pennsylvania's Pocono region on Monday. The family is from the small rural town of Towanda, Pennsylvania.

The criminal complaint says officers responded to a 911 call about a "suicidal woman" who "needed help dying."

Officers discovered the two victims with stab wounds inside their hotel room and found knives, blood, and various medications, the documents say.

The couple was on an extended, three-week stay at the resort — which can cost more than $600 a night.

In a statement sent to Fox News Digital, a spokesperson for Great Wolf Lodge provided brief details about the lengthy stay.

"We’ve had families in the past stay at our resorts for extended periods of time while completing home renovations or repairs because our rooms are larger and there’s a lot of entertainment offerings, so a multi-week stay is uncommon, but not completely unusual," the statement said.

The spokesperson did not provide details about how the family was paying for the stay and instead referred Fox News Digital to law enforcement for "specifics on this case."

They checked in on Sept. 21 and were due to check out on Tuesday.

Metallica Rose Harrison, who is now facing criminal homicide charges, had recently posted photos of the family on her social media account showing them at the resort's water park.

A woman named Melissa Rivera, who said she was Chaz's sister, wrote in a post, "Their passing was sudden, and we are heartbroken trying to come to terms with losing two people we loved so dearly."

She created an online fundraiser for funeral expenses. Rivera went on to say, "Chaz was a good guy whose whole life was centered around his wife and child. He meant so much to our family, and the pain of losing both him and my nephew so unexpectedly is hard to put into words."

According to the couple's social media accounts, it appears the couple was married for three years before the tragedy.

Harrison is currently sitting in a Monroe County jail cell and was denied bond, court records show. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 21.

A spokesperson for the company previously said to Fox News Digital, "We’re cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation."
